The following are a number of frequently asked questions regarding the CEPir.  For any additional assistance please contact us.

 

Q: Can CEPir be used in clinical applications?

A: CEPir is a  research use only device and cannot be used for clinical purposes.

 

Q: Why doesn’t my CEPir switch on?

A: Check that both ends of the power cable are securely attached and that the power outlet is switched on.  Confirm that the outlet is working by checking with a different, working, device.  Make sure that the CEPir on/off switch is in the on position and that the screen button is turned on.

 

Q: Why is my screen black?

 A: Check that the 12 V power cable connected to the screen is securely plugged into its socket.  Check that the CEPir power switch and the screen power switch are in the “on” position and that the green LED above the screen is on.

 

Q: Why is there no liquid flowing in the tubes?

A: Please check if the buffer level is too low.  Try adding additional buffer solution to the buffer bottle.  Following this, please make sure the isolation tube is not pinched.  If it is, please unpinch the tube.  Ensure that the pump door is latched closed properly. Finally, review the isolation scenario and check the pump parameters.  Change these parameters as necessary and restart isolation.

 

Q: Why are the magnetic beads not captured by the CEPir magnets?

 A: Your scenario may not be optimized.  Please review the scenario unit parameters and make relevant changes to improve isolation

 

Q: Why are the magnetic beads not released  by the CEPir magnets?

 A: Your scenario may not be optimized.  Please review the scenario unit parameters and make relevant changes to improve isolation

 

Q: I have an unwanted air bubble in the tube – why?

 A: the buffer may be too low, try adding additional buffer to the buffer bottle.  Additionally, the scenario may contain incorrect pump parameters, please review and modify as necessary.

 

Q: Why doesn’t the isolation scenario begin when I press start?

 A: Check to see if the pump door is open, if yes, please close.  Ensure that the communication cable is securely attached to the screen.  Finally, ensure that the firmware version number is displayed in main screen and select “Program CEP” to ensure that the firmware is loaded correctly.

 

Q: Why can’t I edit the scenario parameters?

 A: you may not have the required permission to edit scenarios.  Check the user permissions. If required, change user permissions to permit parameter editing.
